Blending

Blending is done with feedstock and finished products for uniformity. We can blend from 5,000 lbs to 20,000 lbs. We can also blend color concentrate master batch for color matching per customers' specification.

At SPS we’re able to provide one of the most efficient & thorough automated ways to combine your material ingredients using defined and accurate proportions to mix them together. By using a precision device for mixing materials together, we are able to reduce inventories only to the necessary raw materials for a process as required, with zero disruption to the flow of the process.

Here are some of the many extremely beneficial outcomes by blending products for your process. You are able to save on labor costs, conserve additives, reduce waste/scrap generation, improve your control over the process, reduce excess inventory, repeat a steady process, decrease down time (waiting on materials, both raw or additives to continue process), and hence save a lot of money on the operating costs of your process.

Processors can blend basic plastic resins and additives/colorants in-plant, as needed, into recipes that are required by their process and the final product. This is typically less expensive than purchasing pre-mixed material from a supplier. IEI will take your materials, and make them usable for your process and save you money in the process.

• Coloring
• Stabilization (UV resistance, rigidity, chemical or electrical properties etc.)
• Consumption of Regrind(s)
The blending/dosing process can be employed from up to 8,000 pounds of material per hour, in pellet, regrind, concentrate, powder, flake and even liquid forms.

A sample of additive savings are as follows when you compare the process of manual blending vs automatic blending are as follows:

Time: 18hr/day x 5 days/wk x 50wks/yr x = 4,500 hrs/yr

Process: 5,000 lbs/hr = 22,500,000 lb material annual consumption

Concentrate: 2% concentrate let-down required = 450,000 lb/yr

Price: Concentrate: @$5/lb = $2,250,000 per year

Additive: Required dose between 2.0% to 4.0%. Excess concentrate, up to 10% is probable using manual blending or dosing methods.

Savings: 10% of the $2,250,000 = $225,000 in concentrate savings annually.
